Getting to Placencia

Most guests fly into Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City, then connect to Placencia via a 40-minute hop on Tropic Air or Maya Island Air into the Placencia airstrip (PLJ), which is a 10-minute taxi from our Sidewalk location. Road transfers from BZE take about 3.5 hours by shared shuttle or private driver. If you are coming from Belize City, the Hokey Pokey Water Taxi from Independence Village to Placencia saves you the last hour of driving.

Once you arrive, the Placencia peninsula runs on walking, golf carts, and the occasional taxi. The Sidewalk — a 4,071-foot pedestrian path (listed by Guinness as the world’s narrowest main street) — is the village spine and runs right past our door. You can rent a golf cart for the full peninsula or a bike for the village, but most MeMe’s Place guests find they don’t need either.

What to Pack for February

Same as January xE2x80x94 light layers, reef-safe sunscreen, snorkel gear if you have your own, and a small daypack for the arts festival.

Most essentials are available in the village if you forget something. The Placencia Sidewalk has two small grocers, a pharmacy, and a dive shop that rents snorkel gear, fins, and rash guards by the day. Save luggage space for what you actually can’t buy here: prescription meds, your preferred sunscreen brand, and any specialty dive gear.

On-Property Notes for February

Kids 12 and under stay free in most units, which lands well with families planning longer stays in the high season.
